'Prefect' comes from the word praefectus which means 'the one who stands in front' (of others). The prefect was an official who was appointed by a magistrate, for a fixed period and a special task.

being a prefect has it's own effects on a person.
depending on the place and surroundings, not all prefects are the same.
there are some who are too tight with the rules that they sometimes are despised by friends.
there are some who are too open that they might get themselves into big trouble.
and there are some who are just so stupid that they don't bring any benefits to the school.
might as well not have prefects.
but i'm quite lucky being in sdar.
it's not a big thing.
it's just that we're not trying to be too strict while trying to enforce the rules and all.
we're thinking of a win-win situation.
we follow the orders given by the admin.
but then again,we try to imagine ourselves in the normal students shoes and try to bring an equalibrium to the whole situation.
we even bring handphones.
the teacher's don't mind.
the wardens don't mind.
even some of the admin keeps in touch with us through sms.
as long as we don't get caught in front of them.
get what i mean?
it's quite surprising how prefects from other schools are amazed at how we handle things here and our relationship with everyone.
but there are some times where a prefect can lose his temper.
that's why all the prefects have to give a hand.
it doesn't mean that someone from the prep and assembly division has to check all the lines during the daily assembly.
it doesn't mean that someone from the food division has to do all the work in the dining hall during functions and ceremonies.
it doesn't mean that someone from the decoration division has to sweat it out just to decorate the whole hall.
not to mention clean it,arrange the chairs and all.
but right now,i'm just quite frustrated because i didn't join the other prefects for the trip to cameron highlands.
everyone had to go.
it's like a must.
but sadly,my parents won't let me.
they even wanted me to stop being one.
i totally understand them and respect their decision.
but i really don't want to stop.
it helps me a lot.
i know everything has its ups and downs.
but trust me,this thing has helped me a lot.
eventhough the downs are pretty much A LOT!
then, maybe mr azimi can help me by slow-talking to my parents.
he's really seducable!
maybe he can talk them into letting me go.
but when i asked this 'buddy' of mine for mr azimi's number,he didn't reply.
it was as if he didn't want to help me.
now i'm frustrated when i'm thinking of this 'buddy' of mine.
it could just be me exagerating much.
hope everyone understands me...
